Recent Best Controversial

  • why did i get filled at a worse price than i clicked
    O oceanbreeze

trading the news with market orders then asking why you slipped. the market giveth the news taketh

    Trading Discussion beginner

  • profit split changed on me after i was already funded, is that allowed
    O oceanbreeze

the existing-versus-new distinction is everything. if theyre only changing it for new customers and grandfathering you on 80, thats completely normal business. if theyre retroactively cutting the split on your already-funded account, thats a trust issue even if a broad amendment clause technically permits it. a firm that worsens the deal on existing funded traders is showing you how it will behave when its convenient for them.

    Payouts & Issues

  • copy trading on etoro etc, real returns or marketing
    O oceanbreeze

copy trading = paying someone else to blow your account so you dont have to do it yourself

    Trading Discussion

  • spread widening at london close - is your broker honest?
    O oceanbreeze

this is one of the cleanest broker quality tests. take screenshots at 16:55, 17:00, 17:05, 17:15 UTC for a week. brokers that 'manage' their feed will reveal themselves clearly. honest brokers spread widens then snaps back fast.

    Forex Brokers spreads

  • wallstreet forex robot still sold in 2026 lol does it work
    O oceanbreeze

its still sold because the name has SEO juice, not because it prints. nostalgia marketing

    Strategies & Systems

  • forex fury - 93% win rate claim, real?
    O oceanbreeze

93% win rate, 100% account loss rate eventually. the two arent contradictory

    Strategies & Systems

  • rsi divergence trading, still profitable or marketing meme
    O oceanbreeze

i use divergence as a 'pay attention' signal rather than a trade signal. when i see divergence i look more carefully at price action for actual reversal patterns. divergence alone isnt enough but as a 'something might be ending' alert its useful.

    Strategies & Systems

  • do you trade the session open or wait for it to settle first
    O oceanbreeze

the fakeout at the open is so common it has a name in most playbooks. if youre getting repeatedly chopped, your edge probably isnt in that first push, so waiting for the settle is likely right for you. the people who trade the open successfully have a setup specifically designed for that volatility, not a general strategy they apply into the noise.

    Interactive Trading

  • introduce yourself thread
    O oceanbreeze

5 years still down overall. there, honest, unlike 90% of this thread about to claim theyre profitable

    Trading Discussion

  • opening range breakout strategy, still effective in 2026
    O oceanbreeze

opening range breakout (ORB) was a classic intraday strategy: mark the high and low of the first X minutes of a session, trade breakouts of that range. used to work well on US session open.

has algo dominance killed this strategy? or are there refinements that still produce edge in 2026? for those still running ORB variations: whats the current playbook?

    Strategies & Systems

  • trade my normal strategy or a safer toned-down one just for the challenge
    O oceanbreeze

not necessarily that the strategy is bad, but that it is incompatible with that firms specific rules, which is just as important to know. a high-variance approach might be genuinely profitable long term yet routinely breach a tight trailing drawdown. in that case either size it down enough to fit, or pick a firm whose rules suit your style. the evaluation revealing the mismatch is it doing its job, not failing you.

    Challenges & Evaluations evaluation

  • my EA bleeds during news, should it just stop trading around red folder events
    O oceanbreeze

the 'verify it actually fires' point is underrated. ive seen news filters that looked configured but the event-time parsing was off by the broker server offset, so it paused at the wrong moment entirely. always confirm against a real historical event.

    Automation & Bots automation

  • how do you explain trading to family who think its gambling
    O oceanbreeze

the conversation that converted my family: i showed them how i would have lost money if i didn't have specific rules, then showed them what happens when i follow rules. seeing the discipline aspect made them see it as skill not luck. the rules were the proof.

  • best timeframes for day trading forex, real data
    O oceanbreeze

bias = directional lean. example: 1H chart shows clear uptrend (higher highs, higher lows) = your '1H bias' is long. you only take long setups on 15m entry timeframe, skip short setups even if they look good on 15m alone. higher TF tells you which direction to fight for, lower TF tells you when to enter. simple but powerful.

    Trading Discussion

  • trading without indicators, the naked chart movement
    O oceanbreeze

+1. indicators added noise i didnt realize was noise until i removed them. waiting for 'confirmation' from 3 indicators meant i entered late on real moves and got chopped by reversals on false breakouts. price alone with proper context wins.

    Trading Discussion

  • what actually belongs in a trading journal beyond just entry and exit
    O oceanbreeze

use a small fixed scale rather than prose, for example a confidence number one to five and a stress number one to five at entry. numbers you can sort and correlate, free text you cant. when you later filter for high-stress entries and see they lose far more often, thats a pattern a thousand 'felt nervous' notes would never have surfaced. quantify the feeling so you can analyse it.

    Trading Journals review

  • best learning resources for beginners in 2026
    O oceanbreeze

+1 on the books recommendations. also: babypips.com remains the best free comprehensive course online. start there before anything else. it covers concepts properly without selling you anything. once thats done you have base vocabulary to evaluate other content.

    Trading Discussion beginner

  • is there a trend indicator that isnt just a laggy moving average in disguise
    O oceanbreeze

harsh but i did waste close to a year on exactly this. the breakthrough was accepting that i enter on structure and use the moving average only to avoid fighting an obvious trend. the indicator stopped being a signal and became a filter. completely different and much healthier relationship with it.

    Indicators & Tools

  • e8 funding, deep dive after 8 months of funded trading
    O oceanbreeze

passed e8 eval in may 2025, been on their funded program for 8 months. here is my honest review:

    strengths:

    • dashboard and tools are best in class among props ive used
    • payouts hit reliably (8 of 8, average 5 business days)
    • their scaling plan actually works as advertised (started $100k, now $200k)
    • rules are crystal clear, no gotcha clauses

    weaknesses:

    • their evaluation difficulty is on the harder end
    • support response times slower than alpha
    • max position limits feel arbitrary on certain instruments

honest 8-month review. happy to answer specifics.

    Prop Firms

  • trading psychology after a big loss - whats actually helped you recover?
    O oceanbreeze

both. for me: smaller size (genuine smaller, not theatrical smaller), one strategy only (not the 3 i was juggling before), and hard daily loss limit at 1% account. the strategy didnt need to change radically - the execution discipline did.
