This section is for discussing market sentiment, positioning, risk-on/risk-off conditions, news impact, macro context, and trader expectations. If you've got a read on where the market is headed and the reasoning to back it up, this is the place to share it. Basic conduct Back up your calls with something. "Everyone's long EUR/USD so it's going down" is a starting point, not an argument. Show the data or the logic behind it. Disagree with someone's read? Good, that's what makes a market. Keep it civil and stick to the analysis. Don't dismiss contrarian views outright. Sentiment analysis exists precisely because the crowd is often wrong at the extremes. Promotion & advertising Do not promote sentiment tools, paid data services, or signal products without admin approval. Mentioning a tool you use for context is fine. Building a thread around it to drive sign-ups is not. Referral links get removed without warning. DMing members to push sentiment services will get you banned. Posting standards When posting a sentiment-based view, include the source: COT report, broker positioning data, macro release, whatever you're working from. "Sentiment is bearish" with no source isn't useful. Specify the timeframe and context. Short-term retail sentiment and long-term institutional positioning are very different things and mixing them up causes confusion. If your call didn't play out, post the follow-up. The misses are often more instructive than the wins. Other things that'll get your post removed Vague predictions dressed up as sentiment analysis with nothing behind them. Posts that are clearly just promotion for a paid signal service using sentiment as a hook. Off-topic content that belongs in the brokers or tools sections. Warnings for minor stuff, bans for anything deliberate or repeated. Not sure if something fits here, message a mod before posting. — ForexRoasted Team

price wins. sentiment is a heads-up, wait for price to confirm before acting.

quiet is usually broad and normal. do less or trade a real range method, not noise.

read alignment across the complex, act only when strongly aligned, ignore the mush.

if you want to test whether sentiment adds anything for you before believing any marketing, track it yourself for a while alongside your normal trades, note the sentiment reading at each entry, and review whether trades aligned with extreme contrarian positioning actually did better. youll get your own honest answer for free in a couple of months, which beats trusting either a tools landing page or a forum opinion including this one. let your own logged data decide if its worth anything to you.

no setup means not trading is the trade. log it as a win, channel the restlessness.

the proxy point is worth repeating for forex traders, you read the currency futures positioning as a stand-in for spot sentiment since spot has no central reporting. its imperfect but its the best broad gauge available. combined with watching only the extremes and always confirming with price structure, COT becomes a useful slow background input rather than the confusing wall of numbers it first looks like.

directional bias tool only, not entry signal. most useful when retail is 80%+ one-sided. stronger when confirmed by cot data.

and the broker happily shows you the retail positioning for free because nudging you to fade your own customer base costs them nothing and keeps you trading. ask why the data is the one thing theyre generous about.

ill admit it, people coming back to mark their misses is more than i expected. keep doing the friday follow-up and this thread might actually be worth something, unlike the usual confident-monday-silent-friday routine.
