this thing has been around forever, like 2010s era. surprised its still sold. anyone running the current version. does an ea from that era even still work in todays spreads/conditions or is it a museum piece

a setting that stops the ea trading around high impact news (nfp, cpi, fomc) cause spreads blow out and the scalp logic gets wrecked. some EAs have it built in, some you toggle manually. forgetting to is how people nuke these accounts

1-2% rule is the single most important sentence on this forum. you can have a mediocre strategy and survive with good sizing, or a great strategy and blow up with bad sizing. sizing first, everything else later

ORB was the first profitable strategy i ever ran nostalgia aside it doesnt work pure anymore. the modified version with retest entries still pays the bills though. classics evolve, they dont die

added a spread filter blocking my rollover entries and my random unexplained bad fills basically vanished cant believe i white-knuckled through that window for so long instead of just gating it.

just got my first funded account after passing a challenge. expected to feel more confident with 'someone else's money' but it's the opposite. every trade feels like i'm about to get kicked out. even good setups feel risky in a way they didn't on the challenge.

trading my own demo or small personal account felt fine. now with $50k funded i'm overthinking everything and missing obvious setups. is this a common phase and how do people get through it?

i started journaling rigorously in 2024 and within 6 weeks identified that my losses came almost entirely from 2 specific setups i thought were good stopped taking those setups, immediately profitable. journaling literally saved my account

i did this for 2 years and the constant stress of 'will this be the withdrawal that triggers the freeze' was awful not worth the emotional cost imo. switched to local-legal options even though they were more expensive

took profit too early on two trades that would have hit my full target. then watched the price continue to my target without me. then overtraded trying to get back what i 'missed'. the premature exit plus the revenge overtrading turned a decent week into a bad one.

update, it landed today right at the end of their stated window i was spiralling over nothing. withdrawing regularly from now on like people said so i never stress over a big pending balance again.

the asymmetry point hit me hard i was sizing my last trades like the first ones and wondering why i kept self-destructing at the end. halving risk near target plus closing the laptop after a loss, trying this on the next attempt.

i was burned by 2 small props after mff shut so im extra careful now my rule: never bigger than $100k eval until ive taken 3 payouts from them. scale up after trust is earned

i copy traded for 6 months and learned a lot from watching the trades made small profit but realized i was outsourcing my growth as a trader. stopped to learn properly. dont regret the experience but its not a long term plan
