This section covers MT4 and MT5 specifically: platform setup, EA installation, scripting, troubleshooting, and anything else tied to the MetaTrader ecosystem. If your question is more about a specific broker's conditions or a standalone indicator, there are better sections for that. Basic conduct If you see someone make a mistake in their code or setup, point it out properly. A correction with context is useful, a one-line "that's wrong" is not. No condescension toward newer traders figuring out the platform. MT4 has a learning curve and everyone here hit the same walls at some point. Critique the approach, not the person. Promotion & advertising Do not advertise EAs, scripts, or any paid products without admin approval. "Here's a free version, DM me for the full one" is still promotion. If you've built something and want to share it, contact admin first. Referral links and third-party service promotions get removed without warning. DMing members to sell anything will get you banned. Posting standards When asking for help, specify the platform version (MT4 or MT5), your broker, and what exactly is happening. Screenshots help. "My EA stopped working" tells us nothing. When sharing code, paste it properly formatted. A wall of unformatted MQL is hard to read and people are less likely to help. If you've solved your own issue, post the fix. Someone else will run into the same problem. Other things that'll get your post removed Sharing cracked or decompiled versions of paid EAs or indicators. Zero tolerance. Posts that are clearly just fishing for private coaching or paid services. Off-topic broker complaints or general trading discussion. Warnings for minor stuff, bans for anything deliberate or repeated. Not sure if something fits here, message a mod before posting. — ForexRoasted Team

If you're running an EA or any kind of automated strategy, you need a VPS. Your home PC going to sleep or losing connection at the wrong moment will cost you — it's not a matter of if, it's when. We've been using MyForexVPS and it does the job well. They've been around since 2012, support MT4/MT5/cTrader out of the box, and the latency to major broker servers is solid. No complaints on uptime either. Why it works for traders: Windows-based, so setup is straightforward — just RDP in and install your platform Low latency to major liquidity hubs 24/7 uptime, your EA keeps running whether you're asleep or not Decent pricing for what you get You can sign up through our link below. It costs you nothing extra, and it helps keep the forum running: MyForexVPS link f you end up trying something else that works better for you, come back and share it in this section — that's what this forum is for. — ForexRoasted Team

This section is for discussing VPS providers, server setups, hosting configurations, and anything related to running EAs and bots around the clock. Keep it on topic and useful. Basic conduct Be straight with people. If a provider burned you, say so, but stick to facts, not rants. Don't talk down to people asking basic questions. Everyone starts somewhere. No personal attacks. Argue the point, not the person. Promotion & advertising Don't shill your VPS service, referral link, or affiliate deal without admin approval. This includes "casually" recommending the same provider across multiple threads. Referral links posted without permission get removed on sight. DMing members with hosting offers will get you banned. Posting standards When asking for help with a setup issue, include the relevant details: OS, provider, MT4/MT5 version, what you've already tried. "It doesn't work" on its own helps no one. When recommending a provider, mention your actual experience — how long you've used them, latency, uptime, support quality. Vague endorsements aren't useful. Don't post outdated pricing or specs without flagging when you last checked. Things change. Other things that'll get your post removed Sharing login credentials, cracked software, or anything that puts other members at risk. Promoting brokers or unrelated services under the guise of a hosting discussion. Warnings for minor stuff, bans for anything deliberate or repeated. Not sure if something's allowed -> message a mod first. — ForexRoasted Team

yes if you edit simultaneously you can get conflict copies. realistically you edit on one machine at a time so its rarely an issue, but the habit that saves you is: make changes in one place, let it sync, then open the others. treat one machine as the source of truth and the rest as read-only mirrors.

yes basically. with portable mode the terminal keeps everything in its own folder, so you zip that folder while the terminal is closed and you have a complete restore point including your EAs, settings and logins. label it with the build number so you know what youre rolling back to.

forex dom shows broker book only, not full interbank. useful for real-time spread monitoring. not comparable to futures exchange dom.

2h most useful non-standard. stick to standard timeframes where market attention is concentrated uness your specific strategy benefits from the alternative view.

netting for discretionary trading - cleaner and cheaper. hedging only if ea specifically requires it.

monitoring and emergency close = fine. fast execution and new complex entries = desktop only. always use server-side stops.
