for sketchy firms maybe. for the reputable ones (ftmo, alpha, e8 in my experience) the delays correlate with legitimate KYC/AML processes, not bad faith. distinguish firm quality before assuming malice.

prop firm payout patterns, what actually triggers delays -
is technical analysis still useful in 2026controversial maybe but i want a real discussion. so much of fx flow now is algorithmic, central bank policy driven, with HFT eating any obvious patterns within milliseconds.
the question: is classical TA (support/resistance, fibonacci, candlestick patterns) still giving you actual edge in 2026? or is it just confirmation bias on a chart while the real edge has moved to fundamental + macro reads?
honest opinions please. dont need cheerleading.

withdraw often or let the funded balance grow, whats actually smarterive watched exactly that happen to others, a trader sitting on a big unwithdrawn funded balance when the firm changed terms or had trouble, and a chunk evaporated. the ones who withdrew steadily kept their money. the rule i settled on: withdraw on every eligible cycle, scale my own capital with it, and only ever risk the firms allocation, never my accumulated earnings, inside the prop.

withdraw often or let the funded balance grow, whats actually smarteri withdraw regularly and treat the funded account as a place to earn, not to store wealth. the balance inside a prop is exposed to firm risk you dont control, rule changes, the firm folding, account resets. money in my own bank is mine. on a prop, the smart compounding is compounding into your own accounts, not leaving large earned profit sitting with a counterparty that can change the deal.

equity curve been flat for 4 months - how do you distinguish between bad luck and broken edgebeen profitable for 2 years, then 4 months of essentially flat equity. not a major drawdown, just no net progress. doing everything the same as before. trying to figure out whether this is a normal run of variance that will resolve, or whether market conditions have changed enough that my edge has genuinely degraded.
how do experienced traders distinguish between these two scenarios?

news trading - is it still profitable for retail in 2026?10 years ago retail traders could make decent money news trading - get the data feed, fast execution, ride the spike. now algos read the release within microseconds, brokers widen spreads to insane levels around news, and the 'spike then return' patterns are barely visible.
serious question: anyone here genuinely making money news trading consistently? if yes, what's the angle - waiting for the post-news consolidation? trading the 2nd order moves? something else entirely?

mt5 depth of market - is the order book data useful for forex tradersused dom actively for about 2 months on a raw ecn account. the practical value was mainly the real-time spread visibility. the depth data itself didnt add to my trading decisions in a meaningful way. for pure forex spot trading the dom is a nice-to-have tool for understanding current market conditions, not a core analytical tool like it is in equity or futures trading.

journaling my switch from indicator soup to pure price action, week by weekthe troll is right that bare charts arent magic, theyre just removing a layer that was adding noise for you specifically. the honest framing for your journal: youre not expecting price action to be a holy grail, youre testing whether the indicators were a net negative for your decisions. that is a real, answerable question, and your weekly log will answer it. measure trade quality before and after, not whether naked charts are universally superior.

fundednext review after 8 months funded, the good and the roughthe consistency rule is the main reason i avoid fundednext. for any trader who hits clean trades occasionally on planned catalysts, the rule essentially punishes good trade selection. you either grind small wins daily or scale down your winning days artificially. neither matches real trading.

changed my journal format completely after 8 months - was it worth itwent through a similar evolution. started narrative, moved to structured, now use a hybrid: structured template for every trade plus a free-form weekly reflection entry. the weekly entry is where i do the synthesis and look for patterns. daily structured entries are data collection, weekly entry is analysis. works well.

trading wihtout indicators, the naked chart movementstarted naked chart in 2022 after years of indicator overload.took 6 months to feel comfortable reading price alone. now my decision quality is significantly better because i actually look at structure and price behavior instead of indicator confirmations. dont miss indicators at all anymore.

flags and pennants as continuation patterns - do they actually measure welltick volume in forex isn't perfect but it's correlated with actual order flow, especially in liquid majors. the troll's point has some validity but tick volume still captures the relative activity level during a session. a flag with declining tick volume followed by an expansion tick candle on breakout is a real signal. it's not as clean as equity volume data but it's not useless.
-
trading currency correlations - is it an edge or does it just double your exposureboth applications are valid but they're solving different problems. the risk management application (avoiding duplicate exposure) is straightforward and useful for everyone. if eurusd and gbpusd are 85% correlated and you're long both, you're effectively double-sizing one dollar trade. the divergence trade is more sophisticated and requires understanding when the correlation breaks and why - that's harder.
-
copy trading platforms - what the risk disclosures don't tell youslippage is the main technical issue. the signal provider opens a trade and there's a delay before it's copied to your account. during high volatility that delay can mean significantly different entry prices. what looks like a winning trade for the signal provider can be a losing one for copiers who entered 10 pips later. this is particularly bad for scalping strategies and any strategy that depends on tight entry levels.

is a simple strategy really better than a complex one or is that just a memetheres real substance, and its statistical, not motivational. every rule and parameter you add is another thing fitted to past data, so complex strategies overfit more easily and break when conditions shift. simpler strategies have fewer ways to be wrong and tend to be more robust out of sample. its not that complexity cant work, its that complexity makes it far easier to fool yourself into a fragile curve-fit. simple wins on robustness and on your ability to actually understand and trust it under pressure.

pepperstone rebate program for high volume - actually worth chasing?trade about 250 standard lots per month across mostly majors. pepperstone keeps emailing me about their volume rebate tiers. on paper it looks like i could shave 0.5-0.7 pip off my effective spread once i hit the next tier.
but i hear the tier requirements jump steeply once you actually start hitting them. and theres a 30 day reset which feels like a trap.
anyone actually in the higher rebate tiers there? is the rebate real and stable or does it shift every quarter?

total cost of switching brokers people don't account forparallel running is the right approach. start with 20% of normal volume at the new broker for 3-4 weeks. compare actual fills, slippage, connectivity, and support responsiveness with real money on the line. the theoretical spread difference means nothing if the new broker's execution is worse in practice.
-
withdrawal taking 8 days and counting - normal processing or early warning signif they go past 10 business days with no clear explanation, send a formal written complaint referencing their regulatory obligations. cysec has a complaint portal and brokers respond to it very quickly - regulator complaints get escalated internally much faster than customer service tickets. the credible threat of a regulatory complaint often unlocks a stuck withdrawal same day.

when and how to add new markets to your trading after mastering onethe readiness signal is when you can articulate specifically why your edge works in your current market. if you know it's because eurusd trends consistently during london session and you have a read on session structure, you can assess whether that edge applies to other instruments. if you're just profitable without knowing why, expansion is premature because you can't evaluate fit.

mt5 netting vs hedging account mode - which to use and why it mattersnetting mode: you can only have one position per symbol. if you have a long and try to open a short on the same symbol, it reduces or closes the long instead of opening a new position. this is how most professional/institutional setups work and is the default for most serious brokers. hedging mode: you can hold simultaneous long and short on the same symbol as separate positions. sounds useful but mostly creates confusion and doubles your commission exposure.
