  • profit split changed on me after i was already funded, is that allowed
    A asherwood

signed up under an 80 percent profit split, traded my way to funded, and now the firm has announced a change to the split terms going forward. im annoyed, i made decisions based on the original deal. is it normal and allowed for a prop to change the split after youre already funded, or is this a sign to leave?

    Payouts & Issues

  • are grid/martingale EAs ever worth it or always death
    A asherwood

^ this is the pattern. grid feeds you steady wins so you scale up, then the one regime it cant handle hits when youre biggest. survivorship: you only hear from the ones still in the lucky phase. the blown up ones go quiet

    Strategies & Systems

  • doji ea - someone posted a myfxbook, looks too smooth
    A asherwood

also look at the 'max drawdown' stat and whether the account uses crazy leverage. smooth curve + low closed dd + high leverage + no track record before a certain date = curve fit or martingale almost always. and check if its a real or demo account, myfxbook shows that

    Strategies & Systems

  • vantage gold spread blows out at news, just me?
    A asherwood

weirdly vantage was BETTER for me on aud/usd. tighter p95 than ic. so it really depends on the pair, gold just isnt their strong one

    Forex Brokers spreads

  • confirmation bias in trading, how do you catch yourself doing it
    A asherwood

+1. ive been doing this since 2023. its game changing because it forces you to engage the analytical brain not just the pattern-recognition brain. confirmation bias works fastest when youre not deliberately thinking, so deliberate thinking is the cure.

    Trading Discussion psychology

  • can someone explain leverage like im 5
    A asherwood

yes you control 50k of currency with 100. but the gains AND losses are on the 50k not the 100. so a 0.2% move against you = 100 bucks = your whole account gone. leverage doesnt give you free money it just lets you lose your money 500x faster if you size big. its a magnifier both ways

    Trading Discussion beginner

  • how do you know a strategy fits YOU and not just looks good in a backtest
    A asherwood

execution is part of the edge, completely agree. the holding time mismatch you mentioned is a classic fit problem, if a strategy holds trades longer than your temperament tolerates, youll exit early and never capture the results the backtest assumed. the backtest had infinite patience, you dont. a strategy only delivers its backtested numbers if you can actually run it as designed, and constant discomfort means you wont.

    Strategies

  • about to do my first ever withdrawal and im scared it just wont arrive
    A asherwood

doing it small and early is the right instinct, keep doing that. complete your identity verification before you withdraw so theres nothing to hold it up, withdraw to your deposit method, and keep a screenshot of the request. if a regulated broker ever did stall without reason youd have a clean record to escalate, but with a legit one you almost certainly wont need it.

    New Traders beginner

  • opening range breakout strategy, still effective in 2026
    A asherwood

my ORB variant adds session bias as filter. only trade breakouts in the direction of daily trend. cuts setups by 60% but win rate improves significantly. context filters are how to revive classic strategies that have lost edge from overuse.

    Strategies & Systems

  • blueguardian funded program - anyone testing their new structure?
    A asherwood

doing eval now. the 4% daily limit is the catch - if you trade multiple setups per day you have to seriously cap each. but its actually pushed me to take fewer better setups so its been good for me psychologically.

    Prop Firms evaluation

  • journaling my switch from indicator soup to pure price action, week by week
    A asherwood

fewer trades and more hesitation is actually a promising week 1, because it means youre no longer getting fake signals that pushed you into marginal trades. the quiet is the noise leaving. keep logging trade count alongside results, my bet is the count stays lower and the quality rises as you get fluent in price.

    Trading Journals journal

  • fundednext review after 8 months funded, the good and the rough
    A asherwood

passed the fundednext stellar evaluation 8 months ago, been on a funded $100k since. wanted to share an honest review for anyone considering them.

    the good:

    • payout cycle is biweekly which is faster than most competitors
    • dashboard is clean and useful
    • 90/10 profit split kicks in after just 4 consecutive profitable cycles
    • support has been responsive

    the rough:

    • their consistency rule (no day can be more than 30% of total profit) catches a lot of swing traders off guard
    • news trading restrictions are tighter than they advertise
    • their server choice means if youre on a fast home connection you actually see worse fill quality than from a VPS

    questions welcome.

    Prop Firms review

  • do volume indicators mean anything in forex with no central exchange
    A asherwood

good point on futures. for most retail traders though, the honest answer is volume is a minor supporting signal in forex, not a primary one. dont build the house on it. use it to confirm, never to lead.

    Indicators & Tools

  • what actually changes about execution when you go from 10k to 100k account
    A asherwood

if you're genuinely profitable at 10k scaled to 100k with the same strategy, ecn/raw account is the right structure regardless. any short-term pricing advantage from b-booking disappears once the broker realises you're not a losing flow. ecn at that account size gives you consistency and removes the conflict of interest entirely.

    Experienced Traders

  • what actually belongs in a trading journal beyond just entry and exit
    A asherwood

ive been logging entry, exit and profit or loss for a while and its basically just a transaction history, it hasnt taught me anything. clearly im missing the parts that actually generate insight. what do you record beyond the raw numbers that turned your journal from a ledger into something that improved your trading?

    Trading Journals review

  • instant funding vs evaluation challenge, which model is less of a trap
    A asherwood

evaluation is the smarter default for almost everyone, especially first-timers, because its cheaper to discover whether you and the firm fit. instant funding can make sense only if youve already proven yourself with that exact firm before, know its live rules intimately, and value skipping the evaluation time more than the extra cost. for a newcomer to a firm its almost always paying more to skip the cheap lesson you actually need.

    Prop Firm Discussion prop-firm evaluation

  • tradingview bar replay for practice - how to use it effectively
    A asherwood

added a review step after each replay session: go back through the trades i took in replay and grade them not on outcome but on process. did i follow my criteria? was my reasoning clear? a good trade with a bad outcome on process deserves the same critique as a bad trade. grading process rather than outcome is what builds sustainable pattern recognition.

    TradingView tradingview

  • scalping the london open - whats actually still working
    A asherwood

+1. fading the initial move is now the move. retail moved their stops to the obvious levels and algos fade them ruthlessly. join the fade with confirmation, dont try to be the original breakout trader.

    Strategies & Systems scalping intraday

  • what pairs are you watching this week and whats the actual reasoning
    A asherwood

lets make this a recurring habit. not signals, just what you personally are watching this week and the reasoning behind it, so we can compare reads and learn how others frame the week. ill start, im watching the dollar pairs into the data later in the week and staying flat on anything without a clean level. what are you on and why?

    Interactive Trading market-watch

  • vantage markets, how does it compare to pepperstone and ic markets
    A asherwood

tested vantage and stayed with ic markets. the tighter spreads were real but their interface for managing positions felt slower under stress. for active intraday trading platform fluency matters more than micro-spreads.
