i adapted by trading non-restricted instruments during news windows. eurusd is covered, eurchf usually isnt. usdjpy is covered for fed releases, gbpjpy might not be. find the gaps in their coverage and trade there during news. minor inconvenience, preserves the strategy edge.

logging slippage versus size is exactly it. ive got a simple chart of average slippage by lot size per broker and it instantly shows which one to route bigger orders through. completely changed broker choice from a reputation guess into a measured routing decision.

short term yes. price spikes one direction taking out obvious stops, then reverses sharply. 'fading' means entering on that reversal in the opposite direction of the initial spike. its trading the stop hunt as if you knew it was coming. risky if you misread the level.

to add a data point on payouts specifically: my withdrawals from an established firm took two to four business days to the original method each time, no drama. the horror stories i see are concentrated in newer firms and in people who broke a rule and got denied, not in the older firms paying routine withdrawals. age and rule-compliance explain most outcomes.

every strategy i trade is someone elses, pulled from a video or a forum, and i never fully trust it because i dont know why it works. i want to develop my own so i actually understand and believe in it. but i have no idea how you go from random market observations to an actual tested strategy. whats the real process for building one from scratch?

physical exercise. sounds dumb. but the cortisol from big losses is real and lasts for days. running, gym, anything physical processed it faster than any 'mindset work' did. for me at least.

the key distinction is whether a firm makes money primarily from trader fees or from a cut of genuine trading profits. the healthiest ones want you to pass and trade well because they earn from your success. the fee farms are structured so most challenges fail and thats fine for them. read where their incentive actually points before you pay.

thats unfair. some professional traders do offer copy services as supplemental income. quality is mixed but its not all bad. issue is filtering signal from noise, not that the entire category is bad.

+1. lcg is a fine broker but they havent invested heavily in product/platform updates. for traders who just need a UK regulated execution venue with mt5 they work. for traders who want modern tooling, ic markets or pepperstone uk entities are better.

+1. bdswiss had a tough 2025. theyve been profitable for years but the recent changes hurt operational quality. not a broker id recommend right now even though they were fine 18 months ago.
