switched from ic markets to fp markets 2 months ago, mainly because their cTrader feels snappier on my setup. but lately ive been noticing weird slippage on news on fp, while ic was rock solid even during nfp.

spreads are pretty much the same on raw accounts. commissions identical. so the only diff for me is execution quality and platform feel.

anyone running both side by side? want to know if im just being paranoid or if fp really does slip more at high volatility times.

ran them in parallel for 4 months on the same eurusd setup last year. fp had marginally tighter raw spread off-news but ic was noticeably better during the open. like 0.2-0.4 pip cleaner fills on stops at london open. wasnt your imagination.

what does raw spread mean? and how do you compare them properly, just look at the platform?

raw spread = the broker shows you near-interbank pricing then charges a separate commission per lot. its more transparent than the markup model. to compare properly you log spread + commission + slippage over hundreds of trades on identical setups. eyeballing the spread display tells you almost nothing.

fwiw fp had a known issue late 2025 where their pricing engine lagged during high-impact news. they sent out an apology email in november about it. maybe related to what youre seeing.
