setup question. ive been doing analysis on tradingview (premium tier) and executing on mt5 because my brokers are mt5-only. the workflow feels clunky - i mark up TV charts then have to recreate the same levels in mt5 for trade execution.

    options im weighing:

    1. fully migrate to TV (but execution depends on broker partner availability)
    2. fully migrate analysis to mt5 (but mt5 chart tools are noticeably worse)
    3. accept the dual-platform clunk and optimize it (currently doing this)

    whats your setup and why?

tradingview for analysis, mt5 for execution. its clunky but TVs drawing tools, indicators, and shared analysis features are unmatched. i sync key levels manually each morning, takes 5 mins, worth it. accepted the friction.

switched to TV-broker integration in 2025. my broker (oanda) trades natively in TV now so i only use one platform. big improvement for workflow. if your broker offers TV native integration, take it.

for learning - free tier covers everything you need (just one chart at a time, limited indicators). premium becomes worth it when you actively trade multiple instruments and need multiple charts open simultaneously. dont pay until you actually find limits of the free tier.

tradingview is a beautiful expensive distraction. the prettier the chart the more confidence biased youll be. mt5s ugly charts kept me humble.

there is truth to this. pretty charts can feel like 'i must be doing something serious because it looks like quantopian'. but the actual practical tools on TV (especially their replay mode for backtesting visually) are genuinely better. its a tool not a vibe.

i pay for TV ultimate ($60/mo) and have zero regrets 🔥 replay mode alone saves me hours of backtesting. the indicators and pine script make it the best analysis tool in the market right now
