was halfway through an evaluation when my prop migrated to a different platform and broker backend. suddenly the spreads and server times were different, my pending orders behaved oddly, and it threw off two trades. they say the rules and targets carry over unchanged. anyone been through a mid-challenge backend switch and did it cause real problems?

been through one. the targets carrying over is fine on paper, the practical problem is exactly what you hit: different spreads and server time can disrupt orders set under the old conditions. document everything around the switch with screenshots and timestamps. if a trade was harmed by their migration, a reputable firm will usually make an adjustment, but only if you can show the issue cleanly.

documentation is everything in these disputes. screenshot your open orders before and after, note the exact migration time, and log any fill that behaved differently. firms move much faster on a clear evidenced complaint than on 'something felt off after the switch'. make it impossible to wave away.

a firm that migrates its entire backend in the middle of paying customers evaluations is telling you how much it values your challenge fee versus its own convenience. the answer to your question is in the fact that they did it at all.

the troll has a point about respect for customers, but migrations do sometimes happen for legitimate reasons like a backend provider issue. the tell isnt that they migrated, its how they handle the fallout: do they pause affected evaluations, offer resets, respond to evidenced complaints. good firms cushion the disruption, bad ones say 'rules unchanged' and ignore the practical harm.

is it reasonable to ask them to reset the challenge after something like this, or does that make me look like im just trying to buy more time?

its reasonable if you tie the request to specific evidenced harm, not a general vibe. 'these two pending orders behaved abnormally during your migration window, here are the screenshots, i am requesting a reset for the affected trades' is a legitimate, professional ask. a vague 'reset me because the switch was annoying' is what looks like time-buying. specificity is the difference.

screenshot everything, complain with specifics, not vibes.
