two months in and i feel more lost than when i started, is this normal
-
when i started everything seemed simple, buy low sell high, follow a few rules. two months of actually learning later i feel more confused than ever, every concept has exceptions, every rule has a counter-rule, and i second-guess every chart. is this a normal stage everyone passes through, or a sign im not cut out for this?

completely normal and actually a good sign. month one you didnt know enough to know what you didnt know, so it felt simple. now you can see the complexity, which means youre learning. this confused stage is where most people quit, right before it starts clicking. the feeling of everything having exceptions is you graduating from rules to judgement. push through, it resolves into a calmer competence if you dont bail here.

this is the classic dip, where confidence collapses as competence slowly rises. it feels awful and looks like failure but its the most normal part of the curve. the antidote is narrowing your focus, stop trying to hold every concept at once and master one simple setup deeply. broad confusion shrinks when you go narrow and deep instead of wide and shallow.

or two months in is when reality finally pierces the beginner fantasy and some people correctly realise this is harder than the youtube thumbnails implied. confused isnt always a stage to push through, sometimes its accurate information about the difficulty. not everyone should push on.

the troll raises a fair point, the confusion is partly accurate, this is genuinely hard. but the conclusion neednt be quitting, it can be recalibrating expectations and timeline. the people who make it arent the ones who found it easy, theyre the ones who accepted it was hard and kept going at a sustainable pace. feeling lost at two months is normal, expecting not to feel lost at two months was the actual error.

concrete way out of the fog: pick one setup, define it precisely, and trade only that on demo for a few weeks. ignore everything else entirely, every other concept, pattern and indicator. mastery of one narrow thing rebuilds the confidence that broad study destroyed. you can widen later. right now the cure for too much is less, done deeply.
