lux trading firm has been in the conversation more recently. they offer slightly different account structures than the major props - their 'instant funded' option lets you skip evaluation if you pay a higher upfront fee.

for anyone whos tried lux, especially the instant funded path: is skipping the eval worth the higher upfront cost? typical trade-off seems to be ~$500 more in fees for skipping the eval pass requirement.

did the instant funded path with lux for a $100k account in 2024. paid the premium fee, skipped eval, went straight to funded. funded rules are slightly tighter than their eval-pass funded accounts (smaller daily DD allowance specifically). traded successfully for 5 months, took 4 payouts, moved off because i wanted to consolidate at fewer firms.

instant funded is interesting but the math rarely works. the eval pass fee is typically $200-400. instant funded fee for equivalent account is $700-900. you're paying $400-500 to skip 30 days of trading carefully. unless you really hate evaluations (some traders do for psychological reasons) the eval path saves money.

        No edge without records.

why would anyone skip the eval if its cheaper? sounds like wasted money

reasons people skip eval: 1) they fail evals repeatedly due to performance anxiety even though they trade fine normally, 2) they want immediate income generation without the eval phase, 3) they already have proven track record elsewhere and the eval feels redundant. for most traders the eval path is correct - confirms you can actually pass under their rules.

instant funded matched my situation - im comfortable trading at $100k size, low time tolerance for eval. paid the premium, traded normally, took payouts.for someone unsure about their strategy at funded scale, the eval path is the safer choice (and cheaper if you pass first try).

              test small first

instant funded is the premium tier for people who failed too many evals and need a different way to call themselves funded. its a marketing solution to an evaluation failure problem.

i did instant funded once 😅 honestly the relief of just trading without the eval pressure was worth the extra fee for me. some psychological reality therre. but yeah math wise eval is better

                  journal it
