is keeping a trading journal actually worth the effort

everyone says journal your trades but honestly it feels like homework and i never keep it up. does it actually make a difference or is it one of those things people say but nobody really does

it was the single biggest jump in my results, no exaggeration. not because of the entries, because it showed me i lost 80% of my money on revenge trades after a loss, on fridays, oversized. i couldnt SEE that pattern until it was written down. the journal doesnt fix your strategy it exposes your behaviour

keep it stupid simple or you wont do it. date, pair, entry reason, exit reason, how you FELT, result. 5 fields. the 'felt' one is where the gold is. fancy 40-column spreadsheets are why people quit journaling in a week

whichever you'll actually use. notebook is fine. the best journal is the one you keep, not the one with the nicest features. dont overthink the tool
