best learning resources for beginners in 2026
-
someone in a discord asked me what resources to learn trading and i realized most of the stuff i learned from in 2019-2020 is either outdated or behind paywalls now.
whats your current top recommendations for someone genuinely new (not just buy this course bro). books, free youtube channels, structured learning paths, anything actually valuable.
bonus points for explicitly saying what NOT to follow.

books that age well: 'trading in the zone' by mark douglas (psychology fundamentals), 'reminiscences of a stock operator' (timeless trader psychology), 'the disciplined trader' (douglas again). free youtube: jason graystone, the trading channel, no nonsense forex. AVOID: anyone promising profitable signal services, anyone showing only winning trades, anyone whose 'free' content is bait for a $2000 course.

+1 on the books recommendations. also: babypips.com remains the best free comprehensive course online. start there before anything else. it covers concepts properly without selling you anything. once thats done you have base vocabulary to evaluate other content.
-
is babypips really still good in 2026? the design looks like 2010

design is dated but content is correct. they updated it through the years. the fundamental concepts of fx markets, risk management, technical analysis, dont change. modern design that teaches you nothing valuable is worse than dated design that teaches you everything you need to start. give it a real try.
-
best learning resource for beginners: lose money. it teaches faster than any course or book.

watching the same setups, comparing notes, accountability for mistakes. i learned more from one trading partner over a year than from any course
