cmc markets is one of the oldest established uk brokers. lse listed, FCA regulated, has been around since the 80s.their pricing is on the higher end compared to offshore-leaning brokers, but you get institutional grade everything.

for those whove traded with cmc: is the premium pricing justified by quality, or are you paying brand tax for the listed-company assurance?

traded cmc since 2020. yes its more expensive than ic markets or pepperstone. you pay for: actual segregation under fca rules, deep liquidity that holds during stress events (saw this in march 2020 covid panic), credit-like terms for high net worth clients. for serious size its worth the premium. for small accounts its not.

+1. cmc is institutional-quality wrapped in retail packaging. their next generation platform is actually excellent. but yes, you're paying for lse listing and full uk regulation. on a $5k account you wont notice the protection benefits. on a $200k account they matter a lot.

lse listed = company is publicly traded on london stock exchange. matters because: 1) financial statements are public and audited quarterly, 2) regulator scrutiny is higher because of investor protection laws, 3) cant just disappear overnight, 4) financial health is visible to anyone. compared to privately held offshore brokers, lse listed adds significant transparency.

you pay 30% more for cmc because lse listed means they have to actually pay employees in london. retail brokers offshore pay $400/month for the same job.thats the difference.

moved to cmc after losing a friend's money at a cheaper broker that froze withdrawals 😔 the lesson: with capital that matters to your life, broker quality is not where you optimize for cost. cmc costs more but i sleep at night

one bad day is not the month
