i get that i should risk 1% but i dont know how to turn that into a lot size. like account 1000, risk 1% = 10 bucks, stop 20 pips... what lot do i type in. is there a formula or do i just guess

formula: lots = risk$ / (stop_pips x pip_value_per_lot). on eurusd 1 standard lot = ~10/pip. so 10 risk / (20 pips x 10) = 0.05 lots. thats it. for other pairs the pip value changes so use a calculator or your platform shows it

and please dont eyeball it. most people 'feel' a lot size and end up risking 8% without realising. there are free position size calculators everywhere, or set it up once in a spreadsheet. the calc takes 5 seconds and is the difference between surviving a losing streak and not

yes slightly, because the profit gets converted back to your account currency. small difference but real on big positions. easiest is just trust the calculator/platform which accounts for your account currency automatically
