asked this question in the main prop discussion sub but got very different answers. one person said 3 days is standard and anything beyond is suspicious. another said 10 business days is normal. seems like expectations vary a lot.

what's the actual realistic standard for prop firm payouts in 2026, and at what specific point is a delay a red flag versus just slow admin?

current realistic benchmarks from firms actually paying well: wise 1-2 business days, bank wire 3-5 business days, crypto 1 day. anything inside those windows is normal. 7-10 business days on wire is slow but not alarming for a first payout or if there's a kyc verification step. beyond 10 business days without a clear explanation from support is when i'd start formal escalation.

the first payout from a firm almost always takes longer because they're doing aml checks and verifying your identity against the payout method. subsequent payouts to the same verified account should be faster. if your third payout to the same bank account still takes 10 days that's more concerning than the first one taking 10 days.

red flags that are more specific than just delay: support stops responding, the delay explanation changes each time you ask, they ask for unusual documents not required in the original kyc (beyond standard bank statement for first transfer), or the delay coincides with news of the firm having financial trouble. delay alone is one data point. delay plus communication changes is a different problem.

how do you escalate effectively without coming across as aggressive and making support less helpful?

formal written escalation works better than aggressive tone. email the support team (not chat) with: date of payout request, amount, reference number, dates of previous follow-ups. state clearly that if it's not resolved within 48 hours you'll be filing a complaint with their payment provider and regulatory body if applicable. neutral, factual, specific. escalation threats without the emotional tone are taken more seriously.

wire 3-5 days normal. 10+ days = formal written escalation. change in story + delay = actually concerning.
