every prop firm review i find online seems to be either an affiliate pushing a signup link or an angry person who broke a rule and calls the firm a scam. extracting the truth from that mess is exhausting. whats your method for reading prop reviews and actually getting signal out of the noise?

i triage by motive. affiliate reviews with a signup link, discount everything positive, but their factual claims about rules and process can still be useful. angry scam posts, read for the specific mechanism: did the firm deny a payout for no stated reason, or did the person admit breaking a rule and feel it was unfair. a vague rage post is noise, a specific denied-payout-with-details post is signal even if emotional. read for verifiable specifics, ignore the adjectives.

reading for the mechanism rather than the verdict is the whole skill. 'scam, avoid' tells you nothing. 'i hit profit target but they voided it citing a consistency rule i can quote' tells you a lot, you can check if that rule exists and decide if its reasonable. the emotional conclusion is worthless, the factual chain of events is gold. extract the chain, drop the verdict.

simplest filter, anything with a referral code in it goes straight in the bin, positive or negative, because the writer is paid to make you click. that alone removes most of the internet prop reviews. whats left is small but at least nobody profited from writing it.

i mostly agree with the troll on binning affiliate content, with one refinement: an affiliate can still accurately describe a rule, since lying about facts is easy to disprove. so i bin affiliate opinions and verdicts but i will still verify a factual rule claim against the firms own documents. trust no ones conclusion, verify the checkable facts wherever they come from. that combination gets you the most signal.

where do you find reviews that arent affiliate-driven, is it mostly discords and forums rather than review sites?

yes, unsolicited posts in trading communities and forums where there is no signup link to gain from are the least corrupted source. dedicated review sites are heavily affiliate-monetised by design. look for ordinary traders mentioning their experience in passing while discussing something else, those offhand mentions have no incentive behind them and are usually the most honest signal you will find.

bin the verdicts, verify the facts, trust offhand mentions most.
