do i actually need a forex vps or is my home pc fine for one EA
-
for a swing EA placing a few trades a week, a vps is a convenience, not a necessity. the real questions are: does your pc ever sleep, reboot for updates, or lose internet, and would a missed entry during those moments hurt you. swing trades are forgiving of a few minutes downtime. a scalper needs a vps, you probably dont, yet.

agreed. the one thing that bites home-pc users isnt latency, its windows deciding to reboot for an update overnight and the EA being offline for hours. if you disable forced reboots and your power and internet are stable, home pc is genuinely fine for swing automation.

ran a swing EA on a home pc for two years with zero issues after i fixed the windows update behaviour and put the pc on a small ups for power blips. moved to a vps only when i added an intraday strategy that genuinely couldnt tolerate downtime. let the strategys time sensitivity decide, not the marketing.

set your active hours to cover the whole trading day, configure the metered connection trick to defer downloads, and disable automatic restart via the group policy or task scheduler reboot task. its a few steps and not perfectly permanent across big feature updates, which is honestly the strongest practical argument for a vps if downtime ever becomes costly for you.
