trading from your phone, ever actually worked for anyone serious

meta question. ive seen so many promotional videos showing successful traders on the beach trading on their phone. in 5 years of actually trading, ive never seen this work for anyone i know personally. the people who try it either:

1. trade really small (where stakes dont matter)
2. blow up because they took shortcuts you cant take on a small screen
3. give up after a few weeks and go back to desktop

am i missing something? is there a setup where phone-only trading is actually viable for serious sizes? or is it just instagram marketing?

phone trading works for: closing positions when away from desk, scaling out of running winners, emergency stop-loss adjustments. it does not work for: opening new positions, doing actual analysis, anything requiring multiple charts simultaneously. anyone claiming primary phone-only is either lying or trading toy money.

+1. mobile is a complement not a replacement. i can monitor and react on phone but i wouldnt open a position based on phone-only analysis. the small screen invites bad decisions because you cant see context properly.

im still learning, mostly on my phone because i dont have a good desktop setup yet. should i wait until i have a proper computer?

demo trading on phone is fine for learning the buttons and getting feel. but for actually committing real money to live trades, get a real computer setup first. doesnt have to be expensive - even a $400 used laptop with two monitors works. the difference in your decision quality with proper screen real estate is enormous.

the laptop on the beach trading from phone is literally a fake instagram aesthetic. nobody whose income depends on trading actually does that. they trade from a setup with 4 monitors in a cold room.

i fully gave up on the laptop and beach fantasy my actual trading life is a small home office and 2 montors. the marketing version of trading is so divorced from reality

exception case: i know a swing trader who genuinely trades from phone primarily. but he holds positions for weeks,, looks at the chart once a day, makes maybe 2-3 trades per month. low decision frequency = phone works fine. anything more active and you need a real setup.

i actually trade from phone more than people think, but only for managing existing positions and quick reactions. the analysis and entries always happen on desktop. so 'primary phone' is bs but 'mobile-aware' setup is real and useful.
